In 2009, the same year they married, Heather and Evan launched Shelterwerkes Architecture, a multidisciplinary design atelier. Before graduating from the University of Oregon’s Architecture program in 1999, they spent a semester studying abroad in the Danish International Studies program where they honed their appreciation for modernism and simplicity.

Their distinct backgrounds cover interests ranging from music to motorcycles and have resulted in a unique blend of technical skill and aesthetic sensibility. Examples of their built environments, furniture pieces and graphic design are marked by a strong substance and playfulness that stems from their personal and professional partnership.
