Newport Beach, California is known for its affluent neighborhoods, its elegant homes and its access to the ocean. Sailing, surfing and sports cars define the landscape. Tucked inbetween exlusive districts is one of the few remaining commercial/light industrial working neighborhoods in the area.
Within the Cannery District, 22 new live/work lofts introduce an urban housing typology to the region that defined suburban living through production housing. Each unit includes a 750 SF commercial office space, which opens either directly to the street or to the adjacent harbor. The efficient plans include breezeways that allow for access through the site. With the living units above the ground floor commercial spaces, the Cannery Lofts activate the neighborhood day and night.
