This Marin County tract home originally had an isolated, cramped kitchen that did not suit the needs of a modern family. Asked to make stronger connections between the kitchen and adjacent living and dining areas, Shelterwerkes inserted the kitchen into the main living space.

Understanding that the kitchen is the center of a modern home, the move gave more room to the most active and central space of the house while clarifying the definition of living and formal dining areas.
